Chris Hunter is a DJ, producer and long-standing contributor to the UK’s soulful and funky house scene, with roots deeply embedded in the North West underground dance music movement.

Emerging from Preston’s vibrant club culture during the rise of house music in the UK, Chris built his reputation through years of dancefloor experience, vinyl digging and a deep understanding of groove-led house music.

Across clubs, radio and studio collaborations, his focus has always remained the same:

Music with soul. Groove with purpose. Dancefloors that connect.

The Sound

Chris Hunter’s DJ sets sit firmly within the soulful and funky house spectrum, blending classic house foundations with deeper underground selections.

Depending on the room and the moment, sets may move through:

• Soulful and vocal house

• Soul, funk, boogie

• Funky groove-led house

• Disco-influenced house classics

• Deep, bumping underground house

• Broken beat and jazzy house flavours

The emphasis is always on musical flow rather than quick mixing or trend chasing.

Warm basslines, uplifting vocals and rolling grooves create sets designed to move people rather than simply fill time.

House Heritage

Chris emerged from Preston’s influential underground club scene during the late 90s and early 2000s — a period that helped shape the region’s reputation for soulful, funky and vocal house music.

Regular appearances and residencies included respected nights such as:

Feel Preston, Cheeky Monkey, Green, Base Bar, Forum, Revolution, Bed Sheffield, Eden Ibiza, Moldova....

These nights became important spaces for house music in the North West, bringing together DJs, promoters and clubbers who shared a passion for deeper and groove-driven sounds.

The culture of long sets, musical storytelling and dancefloor connection that defined those nights continues to influence Chris’s approach today.

Dancefloor Philosophy

Chris represents a generation of DJs shaped by the dancefloor rather than social media.

Vinyl culture, long sets and a deep respect for the craft remain central to his approach.

Behind the decks the aim is simple:

Read the room. Respect the music. Build the energy together.
